The Rainwater Tube
The Rainwater TubeTM is a new innovative storage device created by Green Planet Dreams for the capture and storage of rainwater for toilet flushing. This unique rainwater harvesting device* is an ideal way to get started saving money and water. It is affordable and easy to install. When it rains The Rainwater Tube saves water and money with each flush. No need to wait for the summer to get benefits from rainwater harvesting, the savings start with the first rain after installation.
The Rainwater TubeTM is designed with a small footprint so it can be installed without taking a lot of space or dominating a yard's appearance like a rain barrel does. Furthermore, The Tube can be painted to match its background or softened or hidden with landscaping.
The Rainwater TubeTM has only has one moving part, a heavy duty float that will last for years. No electrical wiring is required nor electric pump to install or maintain. The Tube fills the toilet tank by gravity making it virtually maintenance free and cost effective to install and operate.
The Tube comes in two sizes, 8" or 15" in diameter and two lengths, 8' or 10'. You can order one of several basic colors or order it primed and paint it any color you wish to match your house or building.
As a note, The Rainwater TubeTM is not designed to carry a household with rainwater for long periods between rainfalls, but to take advantage of rainwater to save water and money when it does rain. The Tube is meant to be an inexpensive way for a household or business to go green and to get immediate benefits in water saving and quick payback in money savings without a huge investment. The Tube will use rainwater all day during a rainy day and as many days thereafter as flushing frequency allows. Adding additional tubes will extend the flushing period between rains or one can also add a large external storage tank or cistern to plug into The Tube's toilet flushing features.
The average household uses around 30% of their domestic water for toilet flushing. We estimate that one Tube will save about 10-15% of the domestic water, 2, 15-20% and 3, 20-25%. A large external storage tank would allow the full 30% savings for toilet flushing and more if the rainwater is used for landscaping, washing cars and other permitted used. Depending upon ones cost of water, we estimate a Tube would pay for itself in 2-5 years.
